In honor of my first “Spotlight” post, I should probably explain what this category is all about. I wanted to have a section where I could shed some light on my current favorites: products, beauty and hair techniques, books, food, music, places, people.. you get the idea… So, I named this section “Spotlight” because I will be putting the spotlight on my most recent favorite.
First my first post, I wanted to put the spotlight on…. my favorite books from my spring break reading list. Reading books has always been one of my favorite things to do. I love stories and the idea of escaping the real world and picturing myself living in a whole new imaginary world. A book allows me to do just that. I love thinking up story lines and picturing myself within the lives of the characters of a book. The fictional world inside of a book is entertaining and a great way to relax and escape from all the stress around you. I try to read as much as I can… which doesn’t happen a lot during school since I have so much work to do already… So, every break I try to read as many books as I can to make up for lost time. I love all kinds of books, from romance to a mystery. I am always on the look out for the next great book. This is my reading list that I made for my spring break. Some of the books I have already read during my break so far and some of them I haven’t gotten to just yet.
Let me know what is on your spring break reading list!
1. Because of Low
I just finished this book from the Sea Breeze Series by Abbi Glines. Abbi is one of my favorite New Adult romance authors. This is the second book from the series. If you haven’t read the first book from the series- Breathe- I definitely recommend reading it first. It is still my favorite in the series so far. However, each book has a unique storyline with a character that was part of the previous book, so you do not have to read them in order. Because of Low is the story of Marcus Hardy and Willow Foster. Marcus comes back from college to his hometown of Alabama in order to deal with family issues between his parents. While moving in to his new apartment, Marcus meets the beautiful Willow, who is best friends with his new roommate Cage. Despite Cage’s protectiveness over Low, he ends up falling head over heels in love with her. When Marcus discovers the truth about Willow and her family life, it ends up changing his world. He must chose between keeping his family together or keeping the love of his life…
2. Lost & Found
This book is about the story of a troubled girl, Rowen, who is sent away to live on her a farm by her deranged mother. Rowen reluctantly agrees: part to get away from her mother and part to earn enough money to go to art school in the fall. While on the farm, Rowen meets Jesse- a sexy cowboy who is her polar opposite. As Rowen spends more time with Jesse, her dark past becomes harder to hide. This is the love story of the golden boy and the rebel girl. I seriously could not put this book down. You will fall in love with Jesse and Rowen’s story.
3. Far From You
This is my next book on my “to-read” list. I have always loved mystery novels ever since my Nancy Drew days. This book is about the mystery of Sophie Winters and her friend Mina. Sophie Winters nearly died twice. The first time she escaped a car accident with a few scars and an addiction to Oxy. The next time it was no accident. Both at seventeen years old, Sophie and Mina come face to face with a masked man in the woods. Sophie escapes but unfortunately, Mina isn’t so lucky. No one knows what happened in the woods that day, not even Sophie since Mina was the one who led them into the woods that day. However, everyone blames Sophie for Mina’s death. Sophie must search for the truth in order to prove herself innocent. She begins the journey to uncover the truth behind the death of her best friend and ultimately about herself.
4. Maybe Someday
This is the book I am in the middle of reading now… and I literally am obsessed. Twenty-two year old Sydney Blake has an exciting life. She goes to college and rooms with her best friend Tori. She also has a job and an amazing boyfriend, Hunter. Everything is going great…until she finds out her boyfriend is sleeping with her best friend… While trying to figure out what to do, Sydney becomes interested in her mysterious neighbor, Ridge Lawson. She can’t seem to get him or his music out of her head… This sounds like a typical romance story…but I can assure you it is NOT. There are so many twists that will surprise you and every page is filled with emotion and passion. You feel like you are part of the book… I think about it even after I finish reading it for the day. Definitely recommend this one.
5. The Husband’s Secret
My mom recommended this book to me and it is still on my list of books to read this spring break. Imagine you found a letter in the attic from your husband, addressed to yourself to be read after he dies. Imagine the letter contains his deepest, darkest secret that could destroy not only your life, but other people’s lives as well. Cecilia Fitzpatrick comes across just that. She uncovers a hidden letter in the attic as her husband is still alive, questioning whether she should open it and what the letter contains. This book will make you question what you would do in certain situations. It is a mystery about a husband’s secret past and a wife’s unclear future.
